St Mary’s Magherafelt lift All-Ireland Senior A Colleges cup

After a very tight first half, with Cathy Carey and Attracta McPeake dominating in midfield, the Magherafelt girls took control.  They battled for every ball and played some wonderful attacking Camogie, much to the enjoyment of the large and vocal St Mary’s support.

However, the longer than expected injury time brought some pressure and late scores from Athenry, requiring the entire St Mary’s defence, particularly Natasha McEldowney, Aileen McCusker and Christina McKenna,to pull off some great blocks.

Congratulations to managers Orla Donnelly and Raymond Kennedy.

This is a wonderful achievement for the players involved and we are particularly proud of the 22 from Derry, representing Ballinascreen, Ballinderry, Glen, Greenlough, Lavey, Magherafelt, Newbridge and Swatragh.  Many messages of congratulations have been forwarded from Derry camogs.
