Derry camogs excel at Ulster U14 tournament
Derry won three out of four of the finals at the Ulster U14 tournament at Owenbeg on Saturday. All the hard work paid off with the Oakleaf county winning the A, B and C trophies and missing out on a place in the D Final by one point. Derry A beat Down in the A final, Derry B beat Antrim in the B Final and Derry C defeated Tyrone.
The Championship and Coillte Development squads have put in a tremendous effort over the last month, with the girls going through an intensive programme of training with Elaine Dowds of Antrim and Shauneen Henry, Michelle Friel and Caroline Wilson of Derry. With the withdrawal of one of the Tyrone teams, Derry were asked to field a fourth team so some of the players were redistributed from their original teams. Despite the terrible conditions, it was a great display of camogie from the Derry girls, delighting their managers.
