Derry’s senior camogs are in no mood to relinquish their Ulster senior title, which they have held for the last two years. Though the ultimate target over recent seasons was to gain promotion to camogie’s elite rank and to establish themselves in the top flight, the provincial championship is a separate competition and one that Derry take very seriously.

After the joys of All-Ireland titles last Autumn, the 2008 season will see Derry field camogie teams at Intermediate and Junior levels, with the hard work having resumed after Christmas to prepare for the start of the National League.
Derry denied by determined Clare - National League Final - Division 2
Despite their valiant attempts to bring home the National League Division 2 title, the Derry girls lost out to a tenacious Clare side on Saturday. Derry were up for this game after last year’s disappointment in Division 3 but Clare were first out of the blocks. Clare had notched up 1-3 before Derry got their first score, with a point from Aileen Laverty after 15 minutes. Further points from Clare McNicholl, Sinead Cassidy and Laverty again closed the gap. A goal from Maeve McGoldrick before half-time left the scores at 2-6 to 1-5 in Clare’s favour

A large crowd was on hand as the 2008 Ulster Senior Hurling & Camogie Championship was officially launched today at the Balmoral Hotel, Belfast.
